PCSTMC Bargaining Update 9
Cuts, Takeaways, and Staffing Changes to Save Money
At the bargaining table, management’s message is clear: accept the cuts, takeaways, and staffing changes.
What’s at stake?
- Patient safety
- The quality of care we provide
- Work life balance
Instead of offering real solutions to our concerns about creating a safe hospital, we’re being told to do more with less. The burden of fixing Tarzana’s staffing crisis is being placed squarely on our shoulders.
Management talks about “productivity,” but their proposed flexing changes—including the return of delayed start compromises safe staffing ratios.
Let’s be clear: Floating without proper training and competencies is unacceptable. It’s a violation of title 22 and unsafe. We need to retain more staff, better training, and safer assignments.
We’ve already seen:
- Taking away unpaid flex time
- Cuts to Health Incentive Funding
- Increased insurance premiums (from 8% to 10%)
- Takeaways to our retirement
- Restricting PTO accrual
