Pasadena, CA – Answering the call to help, Labor Community Services, along with the Service
Employees International Union (SEIU) 121RN, come together to help families in the
Pasadena/Altadena areas who had been affected by the Eaton Fire that have ravaged through
those communities. The food distribution will take place on Saturday, February 15th, 2025
from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at SEIU 121RN Headquarters, located at 1040 Lincoln Avenue,
Pasadena, CA 91103. The food packages that will be distributed provide enough food for a
family of five to last up to a week. The volunteers will be joined by California Assemblymember
John Harabedian, who represents the area.

Many residents are still in need, after fires ravaged the surrounding community last month.
Next week, the temporary shelter at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium will cease operations,
according to media reports.

“The devastation brought on by Eaton Fire destroyed neighborhoods and disrupted the lives of thousands of families, who will need our help for months and years to come. Labor Community Services and our dedicated nurses from SEIU 121RN are dedicated to being there for them for as long as they need us,” said Norma López, Executive Director for Labor Community Services.

For the members of SEIU 121RN, these efforts to help those impacted by the Eaton Fire is
personal and their motivation to help comes from a dedication to aid those in need. “So many
of our colleagues, patients, neighbors and friends were impacted by wildfires that devastated
Southern California last month,” said Leo Perez, a Registered Nurse and the President of SEIU
121RN. “Those who lost property and livelihoods still need assistance. Nurses are driven by
compassion, and we’re eager to help our communities heal.”

This event is made possible through the collaboration with community groups like the
Neighborhood Survants, who have been at the forefront of advocating and empowering local
families since 2019.

Another event is planned for next week, February 21st, from 9:30 am until 5:00 pm, where
along with food, feminine care products, air purifiers and diapers will also be distributed. The
event will take place at the same location.

The Eaton Fire, which broke out on January 7th, scorched more than 14,000 acres. At least 17
people are confirmed dead as a direct result of the fire.
