Anaheim Regional Medical Center Nurses Vote “Yes” to Union Representation with SEIU 121RN

August 16, 2024

Victory in Orange County!

On August 13, over 300 RNs at AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center in Anaheim, CA won their union and are now part of our SEIU 121RN family! We’re so happy to welcome them!

These Nurses join their SEIU 121RN colleagues at three other AHMC-owned hospitals: Garfield Medical Center in Monterey Park, where Nurses waged a successful strike in 2023, as well as Greater El Monte Community Hospital and Monterey Park Hospital.

Nurses said their decision to unionize was motivated by concerns over staffing, patient safety, nurse retention, and a lack of respect from management.

“I’ve worked through a pandemic, nursing shortages, major changes to healthcare, and hospital ownership changes. From what I’ve seen, nurses deserve to have a voice, and our patients and community deserve to know that ARMC Nurses are fully empowered as patient advocates.”

— Mina Yango, 37-year Anaheim Regional nurse

ARMC is the first hospital represented by the union in Orange County.

"As we welcome our first Orange County members to our ranks, we’re excited to expand our fight to raise standards for nurses and patients. This is a win not only for nurses at Anaheim Regional, but also for 121RN members across AHMC, who gain a stronger voice, and for patients, who can count on more powerful patient advocacy."

— Leo Perez-Ferrer, SEIU 121RN President

Together, we win power for our patients and for our profession!
