Kindred Riverside Bargaining Update: Staffing, Equipment, and Orientation!

June 24, 2024

Kindred Riverside Bargaining Update #3

The lack of a structured orientation has been a significant concern for some of you. We proposed language that:

  1. Insures new grads orientation/preceptorship is sufficient enough in length so they are qualified to manage a patient assignment of their own.
  2. Any nurse who is selected as a preceptor should have a minimum of 1 year nursing experience at Kindred Riverside.

Our proposal to fix preceptorship was rejected—we sent the proposal right back, we want to ensure we are tackling what issues you care about the most. We proposed language that details a process for nurses to report problems and sets requirements and a timeline for Kindred to rectify them this was rejected—we sent the proposal right back.

We also heard about instances where nurses don’t have the necessary equipment to provide the highest quality care. If you are facing difficulties in lifting or turning patients due to the absence of Hoyer lifts, please let us know.

Please stay tuned, for updates. Our next bargaining sessions are scheduled for June 25. Please feel free to share your thoughts by replying to this email or call me at (626) 841-6431.
