Kindred Ontario Bargaining Update #5

April 14, 2023

Bargaining Update

I'll keep this message short, because actions speak louder than words. And today's update is all about taking action.

Earlier this week, we returned to the bargaining table, eager to collaborate with management on solutions to all of the the problems that plague our hospital. The list is daunting: a C. Auris outbreak that quickly spread from one unit to the entire hospital; an intercom system that has been broken for weeks; a "leadership" team that can't seem to lead us out of the mess.

Ready to fight back?

When we've raised these issues in negotiations, management has signaled that they aren't interested in talking about a single one of them. They don't believe that Nurses deserve a voice when it comes to patient care—even though you are the ones at the bedside.

Where does that leave us? If management continues to ignore, defer and delay in response to our proposals, we're left with only one option—sounding the alarm to let the community know what we're facing. Your bargaining team needs to know that you'll stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your fellow Nurses on the picket line, if it comes to that. Sign the picket commitment form, and send a message to management that Kindred Ontario Nurses won't back down.

We're back at the table on May 8, and we can't stop building steam now. Please watch closely for updates, and join our members-only group (on Facebook) to keep the discussion going.
