Yesterday we kicked off bargaining with management and from what we have heard from other Kindreds—Los Angeles and Ontario—there is a disdain for Nurse ideas that plague the Kindred system. Warned by system Nurses we put it all on the table. In particular, we introduced an article that deals with flexing and cancellation—non-staff Nurses should not have priority over you!

Your bargaining team knows that seniority and respect is the top priority. Nurses that have worked at kindred are a wellspring of knowledge and experience that new grads look to for guidance. Senior Nurses stood and responded when duty called in the pandemic. Kindred has a problem and is losing Nurses. The level of responsiveness and care financially that other Hospital receive is absent at Kindred La Mirada.

Our hope is that we rectify that with this contract. Together, with your bargaining team we aim to deliver the best contract that makes you whole. We meet again next week.
