Providence St. Joseph RN Emelda Pasco was honored as “2020 Woman of the Year” by State Assemblymember Laura Friedman—one of only a few California women to receive the award presented by state lawmakers.
Pasco, who cared for COVID-19 patients during the pandemic, highlighted the struggle faced by Nurses over the last year in an interview with the Burbank Leader: “It’s not easy, especially for frontline nurses, because you have a responsibility to your family and your responsibility to your community,” Pasco said. “And serving in the role of a nurse, you have to work.
