A message for Los Robles Licensed Medical Professionals, from SEIU 121RN Executive Director Rosanna Mendez
Effective immediately, Los Robles Regional Medical Center management has canceled our contract negotiations, citing the Governor's social distancing order. I agree that we all must make adjustments in the interest of public health, and the Union has done so. I also know that now, more than ever, we need to negotiate a strong contract to protect the health and safety of Licensed Medical Professionals and our patients.
We have urged management to continue bargaining, using video and teleconferencing technology that has been widely adopted by most organizations, including hospital administrations that must continue to operate. This is a safe and effective way to continue the important negotiations that we started in February. Unfortunately, management has declined to meet remotely and have decided to wait until social distancing restrictions are lifted.
However, during this time it's important that you know that Los Robles Licensed Medical Professionals are still represented by SEIU 121RN, even without a contract. You still have Union protection. Please continue to reach out to your Union Rep/Organizer Ashlee Petty about issues that the Union should be aware of. You will continue to receive updates from Ashlee and myself. All of our lives have been upended by the COVID-19 crisis, and I know that our healthcare professionals are suffering in particular. The work that you do is vital, both for your patients and for the public health. We must remain united, so that we can keep doing our jobs safely and effectively, like Professionals.
