SB 227 Update...In our push to pass safe staffing legislation, **our only weapon against the California Hospital Association's false narrative is the truth.** As I mentioned in the last Steward email, it's critical that Nurses speak up about what's really going on in your hospitals.

That's why more RNs are stepping forward—like Mary, Sally, Jennifer and Monique—to add their voices to the accounts from Kathy, Joyce, Alvin and Yolanda who spoke out so passionately last year (and will continue to speak out!).

We ask you—our Stewards—to let us know about problems with:

• Ratios
• Floating without validated competencies
• Charge RNs in ratio
• Doubling up during meal and rest breaks ("Buddy System")
• Inadequate staffing levels of support personnel
• Acuity not considered or poorly measured
• ...and other examples of inadequate staffing

_Legislative Lobby & Media Training..._When Nurses speak, lawmakers listen! We're the secret to getting SB 227 passed. _April 18 Recognition Dinner..._It's getting closer! If you've not contacted Genevieve yet, please RSVP today (deadline to RSVP is this Friday, 3/22) for our 2nd Annual Steward Recognition and Legislative Awards Dinner. It will be held in the San Gabriel Room of the Hilton Pasadena, 168 South Los Robles Avenue, Pasadena, California 91101. Business attire requested. _International Workers Day March: MAY DAY..._This event is a great opportunity to get our #PatientSafety message out to the broader community. This will be the 4th large march in the last two years where we've provided First Aid to marchers and also participated in the streets with our signs and banners. RSVP today to let us know if you can take a shift at our First Aid station and/or march with us.
