121RN Steward News—We elected healthcare heroes!

November 12, 2018

Dear SEIU 121RN Stewards,

Special Message for New Stewards

Welcome and thank you for taking the lead at your worksite!

You just made our Union stronger!

Union strength starts at our worksites and as a Steward, you are the foundation of a solid, effective union. You inspire other members to stand strong and united for good union jobs and good hospitals that provide safe patient care.

Thank you for your dedication to your patients, your colleagues and your Union!

My heart is with all of you who are working in Thousand Oaks and surrounding communities. I hope to speak with you personally and learn more about what's happening, both at your hospitals and in your neighborhoods.

You probably saw Gayle's email last week with some positive healthcare-related election results, including some big victories in our state legislature.

Knowing that we have elected leaders who share our commitment to patient safety is so important as we prepare to continue our focus on enforcement of Title 22's legally-mandated nurse-to-patient ratios.

Stay tuned as we begin our work together to push for strong legislation in 2019 that holds hospitals accountable for safe staffing and patient safety.

Scholarships! Please look for our web announcement of Scholarship Awardees soon. By the way, if the winner from your hospital has an inspiring story about their goals and studies, please reply to this email with their contact info and a short description. We'd love to highlight our RNs in newsletters and online.
