Kaiser heard from us at our May 30th Informational Picket! It was a National Day of Action, with 85,000 CKPU sisters and brothers all across the country.
We met with Kaiser Permanente management on June 4th. They want to control our participation in the partnership between the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions (CKPU) and Kaiser. We said no way. We are not OK with their proposed expulsion language, which is designed to give management and a handful of other unions complete control over participation in the partnership.
Furthermore, in our presentation of counter proposals to Kaiser management on June 4th, we made it clear that we are willing to discuss the partnership and behavior between CKPU and Kaiser Permanente at the bargaining table as part of the whole National Agreement.
Again, this position Kaiser continues to insist on is what led us to file Unfair Labor Practice charges against management in May.
They want to:
- limit our rights,
- silence us,
- prevent us from taking action, and
- have the complete freedom to label our concerns as “personal attacks” or “corporate campaigns”—ultimately giving them the ability to expel unions from the partnership
Make no mistake.
This pre-bargaining agreement they want to force on us is designed to tie our hands and weaken our strength at our CKPU national bargaining table and at our worksites.
What’s next?
- Wear purple or Union Scrubs every Thursday
- Stay tuned for updates on our bad faith Bargaining charges—we have a strong legal case!
- We will meet with management again the week of June 18th. Stay tuned...
