121RN members and staff participated in the 26th International SEIU Convention in Detroit, Mich. May 18 to 25, with members hearing an address by presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. Riverside Community Hospital nurse Lorraine Myrick was one of a few SEIU members who met Clinton on stage.

"You’re not only fighting for your members but for all working families and I’m proud to be in the trenches with you!" Clinton said.

During the convention, SEIU members also re-elected Mary Kay Henry as International President. Gerry Hudson, who previously served as Executive Vice President, was elected as International Secretary-Treasurer. Executive Vice Presidents, Valarie Long and Rocio Saenz, were re-elected and five new vice presidents were elected: Neal Bisno, Luisa Blue, from California's Public Services Local 521, Heather Conroy, Scott Courtney and Leslie Frane.
