Six members in good standing were recently awarded scholarships by 121RN to continue their nursing education.
Nina Wells, currently a Bargaining Team member and Chapter President at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, won the new Robert Thomas Memorial Scholarship. The Thomas Scholarship awards $2,000 to an RN Union activist. Thomas was an RN at Pomona Valley Hospital who was very active in Local 121RN until his health prevented him from doing so.
The following RNs will receive $1,000 scholarships:
- Janet Baghoomian, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center
- Francia Razo, Northridge Hospital Medical Center
- Teresa Winter, Northridge Hospital Medical Center
- Vicki Herschel, Riverside Community Hospital
- Mary Rumohr, Providence Tarzana Medical Center
The $1,000 scholarships were awarded based on the length of time as a 121RN member in good standing. There were 77 applicants this time and priority was given to first-time applicants.
