On June 23, our Union met with management to discuss concerns related to the budget and census at SJRMC. Our Union Representative Chris Slane, several Stewards and the local’s Research Director participated in the meeting. This was an initial meeting and no decisions were made. The hospital did not issue a layoff notice to our Union.
The union submitted an information request for budgetary data and is awaiting a full response to that request.
If the hospital were to issue a layoff notice, our contract has specific language regarding how this must done. Among other things, the language specifically requires that the hospital first seek volunteers and that any remaining workforce reduction be determined by seniority.
