In 2009, the hospital implemented changes to our agreement on staffing matrices without negotiating with our Union first.
Our Union filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the issue was referred to a neutral arbitrator to handle.
The arbitration was set and, at that meeting, the hospital agreed to negotiate any changes.
We met with the hospital for three days regarding the issue. On the third day, all senior management left because they had other things to do and only the corporate attorney and HR staff stayed.
We have a signed agreement regarding unit staffing in both Emergency Departments.
The hospital, despite agreeing to negotiate, has not responded to any of our other proposals.
Our Union is left with no choice but to move this issue to resolution.
We are planning an upcoming vote to authorize an informational picket.
