PCSTMC Bargaining Update 12

Thank you to everyone who showed up at the table today! Your presence matters. Our proposals reflect our true value, our commitment to the profession, and the level of care our patients deserve.
One bargaining team member said it best:
“While the hospital celebrates our productivity—recognizing 800+ surgical cases. They ignore the hazards. Such as, unsterilized instruments and overwhelmed caregivers.”
The Mother Baby unit shared stories of:
- purposeful short staffing
- floated outside their competencies, even into the OR.
This shouldn’t happen. These practices stretch expertise and compromise patient safety. Nurses are scared to speak out about harassment and won’t report being out of ratio for fear of retaliation.
Yet, we hear:
“Safety is not a part of bargaining.”
“These issues aren’t handled at the bargaining table”
“The contract isn’t everything.”
The truth? These issues belong at the table. There’s a price to pay professionally and economically when we are told to do more with less while wages remain stagnant and the cost of living rises. Nurses are leaving. Nurses are at a breaking point. Enough is enough.
Today, we continued work on our harassment article, floating proposals, we fought for harassment language and we heard more of the same from management: do more with less. We are far apart on economics, especially for what we have to deal with We’re done with that.
Say NO to:
- Cuts to benefits
- Increased healthcare premiums for families
- Reduced meal discounts
- Takeaways to retirement
- Elimination of unpaid flex time
- Return of delayed start / front flexing
- Elimination of the earned Health Incentive
On December 2, we’ll use our collective voice—once again—to show the community that we’re fighting for them. Will you join us?
