Avery Hulse’s journey with the labor movement began as a rank-and-file member of NAPE/AFSCME Local 61. After management failed to apply a negotiated wage increase and failed to correct the issue on their own, Avery experienced firsthand the power of unions. Through a successful grievance, her wage was corrected, backpay was issued, and a spark was ignited. Avery proceeded to become a voice in her workplace, holding multiple titles such as Union Steward, Volunteer Member Organizer, and eventually serving on the Board of Directors.

Fueled by a passion for protecting worker rights, Avery is excited to hit the ground running and join the fight with SEIU Local 121RN.
