Garfield Bargaining: Same Issues. Same Excuses. Enough.
Bargaining Update · Garfield Medical Center
Same Excuses. No Movement. WILL you join us on the strike line?
Garfield Nurses are gearing up for a strike for one simple reason—AHMC expects them to do more with less. That was true when we started bargaining. It was true when we picketed. And it’s still true today.
Nurses are leaving the job they love because they can’t take a break without worrying that no one is watching their patients. Support staff keeps disappearing, and work that should be shared across a full team keeps landing on their shoulders. Nurses show up for every shift, ready to give everything they have. For every ounce of sweat, management says: do it with less.

What Management Refuses to Fix
Break Relief Management reversed course on the BMP relief nurse program. Key units like L&D, with no dedicated charge nurse, would be left out. | Retention |
Health & Safety Management would only go as far as federal regulations require and crossed out language for greater security at the entrances. | Staffing Nurses are leaving. Support staff is disappearing. The work keeps falling on your shoulders. Management’s plan is to have you absorb it all. |
You voted to authorize a strike because you are tired of being ignored. That vote was not symbolic. It was a promise to each other that we will not accept a contract that fails us.
Now we need every nurse in this hospital to back that promise up.
