They Dug In.
The Team Needs You to Show Up.

August 7, 2026 · Bargaining Update

“I work Telemetry, and today I heard management say floating me into ICU doesn’t earn the differential. I showed up today because they only listen when they see us in the room. If we don’t stand up now, nothing changes.”

— Patricia Telemetry Nurse

Your bargaining team was back at the table for our third session yesterday, and management came back to us on Floating and Health & Safety. What we heard wasn’t good enough, and it’s exactly why we need more MPH Nurses standing with us.

Floating: They Want Your Skills Without Paying For Them

Management is fine floating you out of your unit but not paying you the differential you’ve earned. Let’s be clear about what that means:

  • Float from Tele to ICU? That’s the same cluster. Tele is clinical care, and an ICU Nurse gets critical care pay for that work. You should too.
  • Float from Med-Surg to Tele? They’re still not paying the differential.

If you’re good enough to cover the assignment, you are good enough to be paid for it. Period.

Health & Safety: Your Bargaining Team Asked for Real Protection. They Stalled.

  • Security where its actually need it. Right now security sits at the ER and main entrance. After 8pm only ER has dedicated security. We need coverage in more areas, not a patrol that leaves us on our own.
  • Security that’s actually trained. There’s no serious training, no hands-on preparation, and no policy for what security can and can’t do.
  • Equipment on site. Nurses shouldn’t have to wait on Garfield or scramble to rent equipment when a patient needs it. Delays in care put patients at risk. The equipment needs to be here, on our floors, ready to go.
