BARGAINING UPDATE: contract negotiations are underway

June 25, 2026

We’ve started negotiations for Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) and Los Robles Regional Medical Center (LRRMC)! Our bargaining team came to the table prepared to make rapid progress.

We proposed and reached agreement on contract articles that maintain existing language on a variety of topics, including 33 for Nurses and another 37 for Licensed Professionals. We submitted proposals with important changes identified as priorities in our bargaining surveys, but the employer either rejected them or hasn’t responded yet.

Unfortunately, the hospitals didn’t match our energy. They’ve created obstacles for some bargaining team members to participate in the process, refusing to release them even with 3 months’ advance notice.

At LRRMC, one member was released only AFTER she arrived at the Hospital and was about to clock in. Now, the Labor Relations Director has stated she’s not entitled to reporting time pay – after she REPORTED to work for her SCHEDULED shift.

It will be up to all of us to make them listen.

Madera Miller, RN, Case Management

“In my 22 year career as a Nurse, working at hospitals across the country, I’ve seen and heard it all. Us Nurses develop a thick skin – but we’re still driven by compassion. When we can’t give the care we strive to provide, it hurts. We’re made to feel like we have failed, even when the failure is because of HCA’s chronic insufficient staffing—something that is out of our control.

As a Case Manager, I see the patient’s entire experience from admission to discharge. When we don’t have sufficient staffing, that process falls apart. Patients who are discharged inevitably return when they weren’t given the proper care to begin with – all because their Nurses didn’t have adequate time and resources.

Recently, a patient shared with me that her hospital stay made her ‘feel like a number in the system.’ That is the exact opposite of what we want our patients to feel. I joined the bargaining team because I never want another patient to feel that way. I know we can do better, when we have the support we need.”
