Garfield Medical Center nurses win big with new contract

When we fight we win! Nurses’ willingness to take action for their patients, including going on strike for 10 days, was crucial for winning a contract that will improve nurse retention and the quality of care that patients receive.

Garfield Medical Center nurses voted 100% in favor of the agreement, which includes:

  • Improved safe floating language & floating differential
  • Commitment to RN input on vital patient care policies
  • New pathwaysto resolve patient safety issues
  • More metal detector wands & security guards at key locations
  • Improved protection against harassment
  • Wage increases of 17.4% to 29.4% over 3 years
  • Retention bonus
