On October 19, 2017, we successfully voted to form our Union with our sisters and brothers of SEIU Local 121RN! Some of the reasons we organized a Union at our hospital include working on solutions that improve:

• Staffing, to protect our licenses and our patients from preventable danger.
• Workplace safety, because we deal with combative patients firsthand and ineffective scheduling can exacerbate the potential dangers we face at our hospital.
• Job security, so we are no longer “at-will” employees and can be confident that our jobs will not be subcontracted.
• Wages, so we can focus on our patients without financial worries or the possibility of having to find additional jobs.

Forming our Union ensures we have a say in decisions that affect our patients and our jobs. Now we can vote for our Bargaining Team and negotiate our first contract at Southern California Hospital at Van Nuys.
